Director Biography - Mariia Felenko

Mariia Felenko is a filmmaker from Ukraine, currently based in Prague. She was born in 1997 in the small village of Korolivka in the Dnipro region of Ukraine. Mariia received her first education as a puppet theatre actress and continued her film directing studies at the Kyiv National Theater and Cinema University named after I.K. Karpenko-Kary. During her studies, she directed several films, which were presented at many film festivals, such as the Palm Springs International ShortFest (in 2024 with the film 'Mother') and EnergaCamerimage (with the film 'Butterfly Dance' in 2021). As a producer, Mariia worked on the film 'Tomato, Big Cake and Victory,' directed by Kate Tiuri, which premiered at the 64th Zlin Film Festival. Currently, Mariia is a student of a short-term special mobility program for Ukrainian students at FAMU. She participated in WarsawNext (during Warsaw International Film Festival 2023) and Sommerfilmakademie (Görlitz, 2023).
