Director Statement

At its heart, Monochopsis is about a young woman being held back by her anxiety and depression, both of which are physically represented in this film by a pair of on-screen demons. The challenge was to build a tense, even panicked atmosphere from a completely internal psychological conflict. The intent was to create an awareness of what anxiety and depression actually feel like on the inside. We hope this film inspires dialogue and empathy between audience members who deal with anxiety and depression and those who are on the outside looking in.
