Monique Mulcahy is a Creative Producer from Melbourne. She has produced a variety of live action and animated projects, and is currently undertaking a VicScreen supported Producer’s Placement with Aunty Donna’s production company, Haven't You Done Well Productions. Monique’s main responsibilities are overseeing their slate of original comedy projects for HYDWP and Grouse House, their secondary youtube channel used as a talent incubator for emerging comedic voices.
Monique was the post production producer on the ABC series Aunty Donna’s Coffee Cafe, and she produced the ‘Most Upsetting Guessing Game’ series for Grouse House that has over half a million views on Youtube to date. Her most recent project is scheduled to be launched in November 2023, a comedy web series with Lachlan and Jaxon Fairbairn, ‘Fairbairn in the City’, which was funded through the Screen Australia and Youtube program Skip Ahead 8. Monique is currently producing an exciting new scifi comedy web series with the talented all female comedy group Big Big Big for Grouse House.
In 2022 Monique established the creative brand Strange Mage, with a focus on developing and producing mixed media genre content that is bold, funny and a bit weird. As a director, Monique's obsession with genre filmmaking has contributed to her unique take on blending elements of scifi, horror and drama to tell exciting and emotionally engaging stories on screen. This is reflected in her past films including her Graduate film from the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts, 'Man in the Moon', and other films such as ‘Afterbirth’ (2015), ‘Zombies in Brunswick’ (2015) and ‘Shut-ins’ (2014).
Some of her previous film successes include: ‘The White Dress (2012)’ a short thriller that screened in the Bayside Film Festival, and the colourful slapstick comedy ‘Le Clown d’Lamour’ (2013), which follows a lovesick clown’s attempts to win the heart of a sophisticated business woman. ‘Le Clown d’Lamour’ screened in the International Youth Silent Film Festival (Australia), winning Best Film, Best Actor and the Audience Choice Award, and went on to win third place at the International Silent Film Festival Awards announced in Portland Oregon, USA, in 2014.
