Mondo Cult Variety Film Showcase is back with a new home at Screenland Armour Theatre in North Kansas City. We present a bi-monthly screening series showcasing the best new underground, surreal, crazy, experimental, obscene, absurd, rule-breaking, and outlaw short films from around the world. Each volume is a "mix-tape" across multiple genres highlighting a shared theme - sometimes hidden within these gems.

Mondo Cult is presented by Etheria Film Night. Horror entries will also be considered for Slaughter Movie House events. Submissions are valid for the year and filmmakers will be notified as volumes are built.

Do you have a unique short film that doesn't quite fit in mainstream fests? Mondo Cult may be the perfect home.

Live screenings benefit local Kansas City charities.

Audience Award - Best of Showcase and Best of Year

Rules & Terms

Submissions should be 20 minutes or less for shorts, mid-lenth is 20-40 minutes and all projects over 40 minutes will be included in the feature category.

Submissions should include download option in either FilmFreeway or Vimeo.

    Our Producer just got back from Mondo Cult and raved about the quality of films and hospitality of the Mondo Cult crew. Leading up to the festival the communication was great and it's obvious that Heidi, Stacy and the rest of the team really care about the films they program. If your film is outside of the mainstream and you're looking for a welcoming place to showcase it, I highly recommend submitting to Mondo Cult!

    So,
    I am super fortunate to have had a film at the inaugural event. It was on the other side of the country so unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend.
    However between the kind words of encouragement from the fest directors and the conversations with the other filmmakers it already feels like a little family. A weirdo family but a family. I hope I’m lucky to have more films to screen in the future that’s for sure!
