Mon Plus Bel Héritage (My Greatest Legacy)

I learned with you humor and irony,
The pleasures of the table and the mysteries of wine,
The getaways for two to discover life,
And small restaurants, secret and clandestine.

I miss all that today,
And especially those little nothings
Turning to tragedy,
If by misfortune you cut your bread,
The blade of your opinel
Found your finger in his way,
It was then, cruel world! ,
The fury of a dark destiny.

You left far too soon,
I couldn’t say goodbye to you,
But between the two of us one word:
Love.
It’s your smile I’m wearing,
This is my greatest legacy,
May I now make it so
To pay you a sincere tribute.

You’ve never judged me,
You just loved who I was.

And when I was lost and had to make choices,
You kept quiet and my heart spoke.

My biggest dream, thanks to you,
That of being a musician,
Carried by your confidence in me,
Took shape and whatever happens,
Even alone after you left,
Your love like a lighthouse tells me
The course, the path and the hope
Of a life full of music.

You left far too soon,
I couldn’t say goodbye to you,
But between the two of us one word:
Love.
It’s your smile I’m wearing,
This is my greatest legacy.
May I now make it so
To pay you a sincere tribute.
