Mohau Mannathoko is a dynamic Botswana-born filmmaker, storyteller, and cultural innovator with over a decade of experience across the full spectrum of the filmmaking process—from development to distribution. A graduate of AFDA with a Master of Fine Arts in Motion Picture Medium and a Bachelor of Broadcasting & Journalism from Limkokwing University, Mohau is a versatile creative committed to fusing tradition with innovation.
With a career spanning Botswana and South Africa, Mohau has worked as a writer, director, producer, cinematographer, and editor. His work includes Colours, Botswana’s first drama series to be licensed by South Africa’s SABC1, and numerous festival-selected short films acquired by streaming platforms. Mohau's latest work includes Liar, Africa's first adaptation of the internationally acclaimed series. His portfolio showcases his ability to tell authentic African stories through a universal lens, with projects often exploring themes of identity, community, and transformation.
Mohau is also the founder of the Directors Guild of Botswana and currently serves as a council member at the Writers Guild of South Africa, where he leads professional development workshops for emerging and established screenwriters across the continent. As a creative deeply rooted in both traditional and modern narratives, he is passionate about bridging indigenous knowledge with global storytelling systems.
