Director Biography - Matthew Alexander

Before finding my way to film and television, I had a career in technology where I did my best to bring creativity to my work developing software solutions. Parallel to that career were creative side outlets as a singer, photographer, and writer for musical theater.

In 2022, I completed an MFA in Film and Television at Mount Saint Mary’s University (Los Angeles) and began working full-time as a writer.

I write character driven dramas and dramedy about people from worlds we rarely see centerstage. My goal is to create deep characters in fully formed worlds where they are forced to find their way because nobody's going to do it for them.

Director Statement

A separate project I’ve been working on has a supporting character who is a dominatrix. It’s a world with which I have little familiarity. Mistress Candi came about as way to explore a small part of a dominatrix’s world. My goal was to write a story where being a dominatrix was a given and her character and her client’s character were most important.
