Director Statement

An inspiration for the story was starting to get developed during the summer of 2022 when I watched live stream trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Since, I have realized there are little to no short films portraying domestic violence against men.

I deeply feel sympathetic for women, who are being abused by men, however, we should broaden our perspective on other side of violence too.

With this short film, I wish to portray an emotional and verbal side of violence than physical because psychological abuse is difficult to spot on a person. A person goes through a series of manipulations by the abuser thinking he is the problem.

Also, an emotional abuse is less likely to recover from because the victim feels mentally trapped inside of a relationship, without a means of escape. The abuser keeps making faulty promises to stop or change, so over time the victim becomes dazzled how to behave, eventually exploading in the end.

Also, couples, who are in toxic relationships, tend to act differently in front of their friends and/or family which makes it difficult to spot unsual problems.

It was shot using close ups, mediums, and long shots to emphasize the tense world our protagonist lives in. The mood of the film is slow and tense, with beige, navy blue, black, and dark color tones. I want to portray a different side of violence unlike in other films. I want the audience to feel the abuse could happen to men, but also to indicate the violence is non-gender specific.
