There is a serious crisis happening at our borders. As a filmmaker my goal is to bring social consciousness through entertainment. I feel the best way to do so is by telling a neutral story through the eyes of the ones going through these hard times, the children.
MIRAGE is about hope. The hopes parents have for their children contrasted with the realities families now face on the border. It's about the hope of a child that her dreams come true. It’s about parents wanting the best for their children - wanting them to be confident as well as to have the strength and will to continue their journey. It aims to give hope to children who are crossing the border as well as to educate people about this humanitarian crisis.
I love to use subtext to spark conversations with the viewers in hopes of continuing a dialogue well after they view my work. MIRAGE’s images and story send a message to bring people together to solve this issue because we must take care of each other.
