Farid Elhami, 40, is a musician, documentary filmmaker, and a scholar of Folklore music. His specialty is in tanbour, one of the oldest fretted instruments in the history of humanity.
This is a movie witnessing the present history of one of the most ancient instruments in human life. The tanbour, dating back to 5 thousand years ago, comes with a treasure trove of myths, rituals, and a rich repertoire of pieces and songs.
Mostly played by the Kurds, one of the most oppressed minorities in at least 4 countries in the region, the tanbour bears the burden of history and pain.
