STAR CHILDREN
Logline: A group of Special Needs kids on a seaside holiday refuse to believe Millie’s tall tales about meeting the incredible Otot, an Alien on his own field trip. Until that is Millie needs her friends to persuade the Aliens different civilizations can co-exist...
MILLIE (17), one of a group of Special Needs kids on a week’s holiday to the Swanage coast, looks forward to a romantic time with her boy-friend BARRY (17). Barry however is preoccupied, enjoying the holiday with his friends within the group.
Millie bumps into the alien OTȰT (equivalent to 13), part of a group of Alien youth visiting Earth on their own field trip. Otȱt decides Millie is unique too, and invites Millie onto his spaceship, with the intention of taking her back to his planet.
Thankfully Otȱt and his group of Alien youth are supervised by an adult Alien, the sagacious Nanuh the Elder, who insists Otȱt returns Millie. Otȱt is forbidden any more contact with Millie, lest their mission - to determine if long-term contact with Earthlings would benefit the intergalactic community - is jeopardised.
The Earth’s leaders demonstrate to the Aliens they certainly want as much new technology as possible, even if it means going to war. Fortunately for the world, Millie is as smart as she is stubborn. She tracks down Otȱt, and goes on one last wild ride on Otȱt’s spaceship.
Millie and Otȱt persuade the adult Aliens, even if the world’s governments are not to be trusted, that does not mean the Aliens should not befriend the Earth’s humans.
Two disaffected kids from opposite sides of the stars prove to their sceptical adults different civilisations can co-exist.

Balbeer BahiWriterRecently I Produced and directed UNINTENTIONHELL, a zero-budget script of mine. What a wonderful experience! It's doing okay with some festivals who are very kind to first-time Filmmakers, won one award for a first-time director, been a finalist with two others, and been selected by numerous others. However we all know that's not good enough, so I'm hoping one last edit might just help push it further upwards.

Balbeer Bahi grew up in Slough on a diet of ‘70s TV and Marvel comics, and dreamt of escaping by joining the circus.
Instead, at 18 he joined a touring theatre company in London, and worked for two decades as a stage manager, performer, writer-in-residence, and eventually Storyteller.
Creating two children’s theatre companies - THE STORYTELLING MACHINE & THE THEATRE OF ORIGAMI - he joyously honed his craft of Storytelling by performing in front of thousands of children every year.
He has since written film scripts set in the UK, France, Poland, India, China, and even far away planets and dimensions, from micro-budget, social-justice dramas, to large-scale animations, the most ambitious of which is in preproduction with www.redgodstudios.com.
Having just recently finally accepted he'll never be a trapeze artist, he now dreams of joining the ranks of the greatest tellers of fantastical tales.
Many of us comic book, sci-fi fans day-dream of meeting Aliens, so long as they were friendly! Yet wouldn’t it be surprising if the Alien was somehow as neurotic, anxious, and ‘alienated’ within their own community as we can sometimes feel in ours? That’s Otȱt.
I’ve wanted to write this story since working with Mencap as a teenager, and very much wanted it to have the same light tone and feel-good vibe as the 1985 film COCOON. Except instead of ‘Pensioners Meet Aliens’, this is ‘Special Needs Youngsters Meets Aliens’.
I particularly wanted the primary characters to all be Special Needs, to be played by Special Needs actors, not just one or two roles. The catalyst to write this draft was the inspiring new talent agency, www.zebedeemanagement.co.uk.
To see the glorious faces of the many talented individuals they represent, I just had to try and tell this story. The lead 'Millie' was written with this beautiful, talented young lady in mind: www.zebedeemanagement.co.uk/ellieg
I just love stories, low-brow or high-brow, classics or contemporary, whether books, theatre, TV or Film. Along with food and music, stories are a fantastic way in which to share some space and time with our loved ones and fellow humans. That's the best place to be.
