Miles Without Home
Sohel has come to Europe illegally and is now working as a delivery boy. He has been away from his family for a long time because obtaining the papers needed to return home is extremely difficult. One day, he learns that his friend Rakib has managed to get the necessary documents and will soon return to their home country. Sohel wants to send a wristwatch to his father, a gift he bought long ago. Rakib agrees to deliver this gift to Sohel's father.
Later, Sohel is talking with his sister to get updates about their father's health. He feels relieved when his sister tells him their father is improving and the doctor assures them he will recover soon.
However, at the end of the day, while busy at work, Sohel receives a call that he does not immediately answer. The caller continues trying to reach him, but Sohel, occupied with work, does not return the call. Eventually, when he does answer, he learns the devastating news that his father has passed away. Overwhelmed with grief, Sohel realizes that he has come to Europe hoping to improve his and his family's lives, but in doing so, he is missing out on the most important moments with his loved ones, moments he can never get back.

Akash Majumder is a Bangladeshi photographer, filmmaker, and designer whose work bridges the boundaries between documentary storytelling, street photography, and visual design. With a background in Graphic Design and a Master's degree in Filmmaking from ESCAC, Barcelona, Akash brings a multi-disciplinary approach to visual storytelling—where cinematic language and photographic depth intertwine.
His photography often focuses on human narratives, urban life, and socio-political themes. He was a finalist at the 5th Biennial International A | PHOTO | REPORTER 2021 and received honors from prestigious platforms like the International Photography Awards (2018, 2024), URBAN Photo Awards (2023), and the London Street Photography Festival (2018).
As a filmmaker, Akash has directed, shot, music videos, short films, documentaries, and branded content, working across Spain and Bangladesh. His style reflects an instinct for visual rhythm, emotional nuance, and an eye for untold stories.
Currently based between Barcelona and Dhaka, Akash continues to explore narratives that sit at the edge of the street and the soul—documenting life with authenticity, urgency, and care.
