15th MikroFAF – FRESH FRAMES
Edition for young filmmakers aged 15 to 35! Whether your film is fiction, documentary, experimental, or animated – we want to see your ideas come to life on the big screen.
MikroFAF has entered its teenage years – the most exciting and revolutionary ones, so the 15th edition of the festival is entirely focused on young people and their fresh ideas and approaches. The response of young creators worldwide to social issues and needs through audiovisual language will mark the celebration of this milestone edition of the short film festival.
Since 2010, MikroFAF has gone through various forms and phases and continues to be open to authentic ideas, themes, fresh perspectives, and new social struggles through film art. It is important to hear the voices of young people and to insist on peace, tolerance, and freedom together!
CATEGORIES YOU CAN APPLY FOR
1. SHORT DIY FILM
This category is for films made in a DIY or "do-it-yourself" production, celebrating self-organization and free creativity. Films of all types, genres, and techniques (fiction, documentary, animated, experimental, etc.) can be submitted, as long as they were made without the involvement of professional film crews and without professional (financial) obligations during and after production. This includes "no-budget" and "low-budget" films. Filmmakers can be between 18 and 35 years old, and films should not exceed 10 minutes in length.
2. SHORT INDIE FILM
This category also includes films of all types, genres, and techniques, but produced under professional conditions, with a budget. However, it is important that the films retain the author’s unique voice and are free from the pressures of the film industry and commercial trends. Filmmakers can be between 18 and 35 years old, and films should not exceed 15 minutes.
3. STUDENT FILM
All film school students can apply for this category. The student work should be created in collaboration with the university and/or fellow students, regardless of the level of study. Filmmakers can be between 18 and 30 years old, and films should not exceed 15 minutes in lenght.
4. JUNIOR FILM
This category is intended for teenagers aged 15 to 18 and their need to express themselves through film or address important topics. Films should not exceed 5 minutes in length. Films created in film workshops, camps, courses, and similar youth artistic programs can also be submitted here.
The 15th MikroFAF is organized by Satibara with the support of the Western Balkan Youth Cultural Fund. This multi-year project is supported by the German Federal Foreign Office and implemented by the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO).
We look forward to your submissions!
