Director Biography - Samkelo Kelo Dingi

Samkelo Dingi, is a South African filmmaker, editor, and screenwriter, he has established himself as a prominent figure in the industry. His journey began in 2012 when he received the prestigious Best Promising Screenplay award for his debut short film, "The Farewell." This achievement propelled him forward, and Samkelo's hunger for knowledge led him to undergo intensive training in scriptwriting and editing, honing his skills to perfection. Later on that time of training in 2016, Samkelo wrote and directed his first made-for-TV film, "Father Figure,". The film received critical acclaim, winning the prestigious Best Story Award and subsequently being licensed by MNet Mzansi Magic.

With his newly acquired expertise, Samkelo started attracting numerous freelance editing projects, meanwhile working at Durban Motion Pictures he edited over 12 films for MNet Mzansi Magic. However, Samkelo's true passion lay in storytelling, driving him to venture into creating his own movies. He took a bold step and founded his production company, Greenlight Productions, which became the platform for his creative endeavors.

Encouraged by this success, Samkelo embarked on a journey to revisit his roots, creating a remarkable remake of his debut film titled "Farewell" in 2017-2018. The remake garnered significant recognition, securing three awards for Best Feature Film, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound. with the unfortunate of the movie not getting a licensing, distribution deal. Samkelo distributed the movie to stream on YouTube which immediately gained over 2 million + views in a space of two years.

Samkelo's work extends to editing the popular telenovela "Imbewu: The Seed" on where he has masterfully worked on over 500+ episodes. Additionally, he has been involved in exciting new projects, including the short film "Might Delete Later" (2022) which he directed.
