Michael-David McKernan is an award-winning filmmaker from Ireland, previously long-listed for an Oscar and a nominee for a Young Directors Award at Cannes Lions.
Next year he will direct Cat & Mouse, a short film supported by Screen Ireland’s flagship Focus Shorts Scheme.
His short documentary, How to Fall in Love in a Pandemic, screened at Tribeca Film Festival and qualified for the Academy Awards after winning Best Short Documentary at Galway Film Fleadh, as well as 8 other international festival awards.
He made his filmmaking debut with HALO, a single-shot narrative short which won Best Director: Irish Short at Cork International Film Festival and has amassed 300,000 views on Omeleto.
He is a winner of an Emerging Directors Award in Ireland. Further directing credits include Foxglove, and the music video for Sunset by Daithí.
As an actor, his theatre credits include Translations at the National Theatre, London. He will be seen later this year in the television series Harry Wild alongside Jane Seymor, and in the feature film Baltimore directed by Christine Molloy & Joe Lawlor. Further screen credits include Red Rock for Element Pictures.
