MetaForma

MetaForma
A dialogue with the body
The protagonist of this choreography is the body, how we speak through it and with it.
«So this is how the modern human lives inside his body; it runs from him, it is his enemy» that’s what Walter Benjamin says commenting on the novel “Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka. In a single uninterrupted stream of storytelling, we are spectators of an evolutionary process of the body and of the man who inhabits it.
“The important thing isn’t the fall but the landing” thus begins the metamorphosis, from the Greek μεταμόρφωσις, der. of ofμεταμορφόω «to transform», comp. of μετα- «meta-» and μορφή «form, with a first destructure, where the complex organism leaves fixed structures to give life to a more rational organisation.
Body’s desire is to go out from itself, from its limited portion of matter; physically speaking, it has the properties of extension, divisibility and impenetrability. Still trapped by a sense of constraint and boundary, the man has the incessant desire to control the body. It is only in the final phase of its metamorphosis that the body returns to dominate the man. The perfect organism that we inhabit owns the most concrete of truths.
«People’s body and mind receive and transmit more informations than people themselves think.» Banana Yoshimoto
Dance is the intimate search of one's individuality, an energetic essence that connects the ego to the body which is no longer a prison of flesh but through movement, substance and form they know and so they accept each other. Through dance, the body becomes a free expression of ingenuity.
