Message Not Recieved
Message Not Received is a short documentary that focuses on romantic entitlement and digital harassment. The filmmakers interviewed two fellow students who were victims of online harassment, one who chose to remain anonymous for safety. The director, Barrett McClellan, puts himself in the hot seat by calling out his own past harassing behavior and what was going through his head to show how romantic entitlement can warp someone’s perspective. The filmmakers also use archival footage from 1940s and 50s dating and social behavior videos.

Barrett McClellan is currently a student in the CU Denver Film Program. This is his fourth film in the program. Outside of directing, Barrett is usually found on set as a script supervisor or as a scriptwriter.
The topic of this film has been extremely important to me since I was 18 when I realized that I spent part of my high school career as a digital harasser. I made this film to shows the victims of this behavior and discuss what was going through my mind as a perpetrator.
