Since my childhood, I have been passionate about stories thanks to my father, who always told me about what was happening in the world through books, poetry, music, and films. My mother, who was an artist, contributed to my love for abstract art and made me love drawing as well. Since I was six years old, I have been expressing everything that goes on inside me through writing and drawing.
When I was 13, I developed a deep love for philosophy, which added another dimension to my personality and made me see things from a different perspective. This realization led me to want to become a film director to share my view of life with the world. I studied at the College of Mass Communication and graduated from there. Alongside, I studied directing, cinematography, editing, and screenwriting at the High Cinema Institute in Egypt. My graduation project from the university was a short film titled "Horiya," for which I received a grant from the Ministry of Culture in Tunisia due to the script. The film was both written and directed by me.
I began working in this field when I was 18 years old. I worked as a assistant producer, writer, set designer, production assistant, photographer, videographer, VO and editor. My goal was to become a director, but I wanted to learn everything around that role first so that I could deserve to sit in the director's chair with a solid understanding of every tinny detail.
My love for writing classical Arabic prose and reciting poetry led me to establish a production company, (GHAZZALA PRODUCTIONS), to produce a unique type of short film that relies on prose texts recited in my voice. The scenes and events are recorded and filmed to relate to these texts. My first production was a short film named "Ghasaq," which won the Best Young Director Award at the Cairo Film Festival and was also nominated at the Cannes Film Festival.
I directed many projects during my university years, but I can say that my first real directorial work was a documentary project for mega star in Egypt named Engy Al-Mokadem, in collaboration with Gossips’s Company. After that, I continued to work on various projects in the fields of advertisements and music videos.
