Viona Therecia Br Ginting, the director of the documentary film "Menguak Tuak," was born and raised in Medan. I began my journey in the world of filmmaking by pursuing an education at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Denpasar, where I am currently in my third semester.

Since graduating from high school, I have been passionate about filmmaking and am eager to continue learning to become one of the best in the field.

In creating this film, we are determined to showcase the beauty and complexity of the palm wine-making process in Tenganan Village. Palm wine is not merely a beverage but a cultural heritage that plays a significant role in the community's daily life. We aim to highlight the traditional values embedded in each stage of its production, from selecting raw materials to the ceremonies accompanying the process.

Through this film, we hope the audience will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of preserving traditions and local wisdom, as well as appreciating the hard work and dedication of palm wine makers in safeguarding this cultural legacy passed down through generations. We also seek to illustrate how palm wine serves not only as a drink but also as a symbol of togetherness and identity, strengthening social bonds within the Tenganan community.
