M.r. Fitzgerald was born in the farmlands of Minnesota, raised to overcome harsh landscapes whether in the literal form of unrelenting winters to the internal, mental and spiritual surrounded by strict religious-based abuse. Setting out on a lifelong path to carve her own identity from her past, Fitzgerald graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art (with an emphasis in Film and Printmaking) and Art History with a minor in Music. Her creative journey led her obtaining her MFA in Film Production at Ohio University where she came face to face with the aftermath of her upbringing and raised the question, over and over...who am I really?
Fitzgerald utilizes her written and visual works to explore all aspects of the human identity whether it be innocent, guilty, good, evil, female-based, male-based, childlike, adult-oriented, utterly pessimistic and yet still abundantly hopeful for the future sorting through emotions, thoughts, dreams, and memories to show the world things that we’re all too afraid to face in our daily lives. Fitzgerald's films serve as a reminder that we can’t run away from the past, but we can face it, learn from it, put it out into the world and move forward from it.
