Project description: The principles of this story world are based on the ‘many-worlds interpretation (MWI)’ theory [first proposed by Hugh Everett in 1957] and the ‘Schrödinger's cat’ thought experiment [devised by physicist Erwin ‘Schrödinger in 1935].
The MWI theory stated that the universe is composed of a quantum superposition of an infinite amount of divergent quantum worlds, or parallel universes. The Schrödinger's cat experiment presents a hypothetical cat that is simultaneously both alive and dead, a state of quantum superposition.
In the story world, the parallel universes overlap at each other before 2020. After the protagonist made her life-changing decision, the two universes split. Therefore both Fiona are doing different jobs but existing in a world with same spatial and temporal dimensions.
In addition, the idea of this project is from the Director's personal experience. Jieyuan used to regret and constantly look to the past, but after pushing herself out of her comfort zone, she is not satisfied with what she has and who she is now. Occasionally, Jieyuan read about some similar cases from celebrities. They all hold a view of opportunity cost - that is, every choice comes with certain regret. It is unavoidable. But, it is that choice that makes us who we are.
