Confronting temptation, people will struggle between observing instinct and abiding by morality. The protagonist grows up in doubt and hate and finally chooses to accept himself and believe in love.
The concept comes from the Chinese Zodiac. The dragon represents justice and honour in Chinese culture. Snakes, similar in shape to dragons, combine the meaning of snakes in Western culture, representing greed, desire and evil.
The story background claims are below. This is a society in which animals have evolved into a human form. People's ancestors are animals in the Chinese Zodiac, and they will only show animal shapes when they are onset or die. In an effort to create a society where carnivores and herbivores live in harmony, people choose to hide their animality.
Furthermore, the moral of the end is that the dragon defeated the snake with its exposed animal shape, and the snake turned into smoke. This way of disappearing is mythical, which means that the dragon has accepted his identity as a carnivore. She chose to face her desires, overcome temptation, and at the same time exert her strong animality and assume the responsibility of defending justice.
