Director Biography - Willie Robbins

A filmmaker, father and husband hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, I developed my love for film after being bitten by the acting bug first. Shooting wedding films confirmed my passion for the art form.
Since January 2014, I have shot and directed over 10 narrative short films, collecting multiple laurels and awards including Best Hometowner Narrative Short for MINORITY (Indie Memphis, 2018) and Top 10 for Memphis FIlm Prize (2016-2019) for DRIVEN, MINORITY and MEA CULPA. Celebrated filmmaker, David E. Talbert, — who also confirmed that I have an “eye for cinema” with my projects joins a chorus of others who describe my work as heartwarming, heavy and beautiful.

Director Statement

"What if", are two powerful words that always take me on a journey in my imagination. I am not a political person-- but this project is a huge part of how many African Americans feel in this country. I would not have it either way, but I encourage people to think about how we treat one another because we reap what we sow. Our children now will pay for the things we do now. Let's love and that's my message.
