Through the story of a man mired in the post truth era, the director uses familiar characters around us to show, how the religious and socio-political aspects of the present day affects a common man.

Dealing a life filled with lies and hatred outside, the protagonist, an educated man, suddenly finds it difficult to get his head around it, leading him to a hallucinatory mental state. The life of his teenage daughter also turning insecure.

What are those delusory images, only he could see, near his daughter's school, in the library and other civic places? Why is he disturbed by those visions? Can his well-wishers bring him back to a 'normal' life? “Mayathira” moves through these questions looking for answers.
