Director Biography - Pedro Francisco Martin

Pedro Francisco Martin was born on December 12, 2002, in Argentina. From a very young age, he had a strong fascination with creativity, starting with music. As he grew older, he began working at his local radio station as an operator. It was during this time that his interest in film and video production sparked. He started searching for places to study and discovered the Image and Sound Design program at the University of Buenos Aires. In 2022, he moved to the city to pursue his studies, and it was there that he arrived at the home of Matilde, a kind woman who rented out rooms to young students looking for a place to live while studying. Over time, his bond with Matilde has grown deeper, to the point where he now considers her like a mother. He currently lives with her.

Director Statement

Matilde has a deep attachment to her past as a mother that she cannot let go of. She rents out the rooms of her family home to keep the spirit of her family alive, to avoid feeling lonely, and to experience the youth she lost when her children left home.
Matilde is like a mother to me; the landlord-tenant relationship fades from the very first moment, allowing us to connect on a more familial level. I firmly believe that exploring this "mother-child" bond she seeks to create is incredibly valuable both for me as a filmmaker and for Matilde, who brings it to life. I believe this documentary can help her let go of her attachment to the past and embrace her new role as a mother even more than she already does.
