Director Biography - Axel Bouthé

I have always been a great lover of film and photography. As a child, I filmed everything around me with the camera my father bought me; I even made short stop-motion films with Legos. I wanted to recreate what I had seen in the films I had loved as a child. In particular, Amblin Entertainment films such as E.T. and Jurassic Park. My childhood attraction to audiovisual has bloomed into a full-fledged passion and career.
I pursued my interests through audiovisual production courses and student projects during a two-year Multimedia Studies diploma program in Limoges (my hometown in France). Then, as the vice president of the cinema club LIMAGES, I co-wrote and directed two short films, La Montre (The Watch) and Lux (Light).
I continued my audiovisual studies with a professional degree in Digital Audiovisual Web Convergence in Saint-Brieuc. At the beginning of my second semester, I worked with a group of students to direct a remake of a scene from the series Stranger Things. I participated as a director, cinematographer, and colorist.
More recently, I wrote and directed the first episode of the web series Anomalies with the collective Frozen Production (of which I am a co-creator). The episode is titled "Plip Plop".

Director Statement

Violence can take many different forms, and can lead individuals to fall into depression and self-harming behaviors. With this film, I wanted to portray my belief that communicating about painful experiences and thoughts can increase empathy and uncover a path to recovery.
