Ma Terre d'Accueil is a video-dance exploring the immigration journey of a woman from South America. Carrying a bag full of stories and memories, she enters a new country, facing the challenges and transformations that await her. The video follows her journey from her native warmth to the extreme cold of a new land, illustrating how she must tame not only a new climate, but also a new language, a new culture, and even winter darkness. Through this artistic work, the viewer is invited to share the profound experience of immigration, to feel the emotions, challenges and joys of this process, and to discover how the beauty and strength of the Earth can become a source of inspiration and moral support for those who undertake this journey. Ma Terre d'Accueil captures the essence that lives on in this woman beyond physical and cultural change, illustrating the resilience and transformation that accompany the act of entering a new place.

Director Biography - Amandine Garrido, Emmanuelle Roberge

Amandine Garrido, dotée des nombreuses années d'expérience dans les arts de la scène, apporte une expertise diversifiée en tant qu'artiste danseuse-interprète, chorégraphe, réalisatrice et enseignante. Elle a obtenu son diplôme d'interprète en danse, avec une formation en danse classique et contemporaine, en 2002 (Mention excellence, Conservatoire des Arts de l'Université du Chili). Elle a travaillé avec diverses compagnies contemporaines de renom dans son pays d'origine. C'est en 2008 qu'elle arrive au Canada, rejoignant la troupe du spectacle Varekai du Cirque du Soleil, où elle a pratiqué l'art aérien.artiste interprète et chorégraphe aux talents multiples, nous enchante par sa présence sur scène, sa polyvalence et la fluidité de ses mouvements. Ses inspirations, un mélange d'influences contemporaines et de bases classiques, lui permettent d'exprimer son art de manière envoûtante, alliant souplesse et agilité. Depuis son arrivée au Canada, elle a créé trois vidéos-danse en tant que chorégraphe, réalisatrice et interprète. Ces productions ont étais réalisées grâce au soutien du Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec, de ZemmourBallet et le CASJB.

Emmanuelle Roberge, ayant oeuvré pendant plus 20 ans en photographie, son regard a été aiguisé, affermi par cette
pratique. Raconter en images des histoires est sa force. Porter un regard nouveau sur les sujets
qui se présentent devant sa caméra est à la fois un engagement et une grande source
d’inspiration. Depuis 4 ans maintenant, armée d’études en anthropologie et cinéma, elle fait le
virage vers l’image en mouvement. Les sujets qui la passionnent exigeaient une captation du
mouvement et de la parole. L’image en mouvement donne une nouvelle dimension à sa créativité
et lui permet d’aller plus audacieusement à la rencontre de ses sujets. Par des cadres serrés, des
plans le plus souvent rapprochés, des ambiances à l’éclairage naturel feutrées, son objectif est de
présenter avec le plus de précision possible la personnalité, le milieu de vie, le quotidien et les
défis intimes et profonds auxquels font face ses personnages.
Ses premières réalisations ont voyagées dans divers festivals de films au Québec et à l’étranger.
La vidéo-danse (Wel)Coming in a reçu un prix du public au Cannes short film festival en 2022.

Director Statement

Amandine Garrido, with her many years of experience in the performing arts, brings a diverse expertise as a dancer-performer, choreographer, director and teacher. She obtained her diploma as a dance performer, with training in classical and contemporary dance, in 2002 (Mention excellence, Conservatory of Arts of the University of Chile). She has worked with a number of renowned contemporary companies in her native country. In 2008, she arrived in Canada, joining the Cirque du Soleil's Varekai troupe, where she practiced aerial art. A multi-talented performer and choreographer, she enchants us with her stage presence, versatility and fluidity of movement. Her inspirations, a blend of contemporary influences and classical foundations, enable her to express her art in a spellbinding way, combining suppleness and agility. Since arriving in Canada, she has created three dance videos as choreographer, director and performer. These productions were made possible with the support of the Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec, ZemmourBallet and CASJB.
