Director Statement

Statement from screenwriter Rae Maddren: Masterpiece developed as an exercise that would allow me to explore gender dynamics and objectification. However, I was determined to present the female lead as anything but a victim; and so I wrote a script for two equally imperfect characters: both Artist and Muse desire power and control; each one takes turns as the oppressor and the oppressed.
