Masquerade. Chapter 1: The Pillaro Devil Dance

A VR documentary experience that, through dance and a mask, takes the user on an immersive journey to explore the stories and origins of the Píllaro Devil Dance in Ecuador, a traditional celebration set in the heart of the Andes mountains. The mask serves as a gateway to this magical world, which transforms based on the participant’s interactions and dance skills. It is an embodied experience designed for fun, entertainment, and learning through movement.

Director Biography - Juan Pablo Urgilés

Co-founder and Creative Director of Imán Transmedia. He writes, designs, and directs interactive, immersive, and transmedia experiences and campaigns. He uses XR and AI to create projects with social, educational, commercial, and entertainment focuses, earning awards and selections at festivals such as the POY Latam Award and the Crystal Owl from Stereopsia Latam. He has worked with organizations such as the European Union, UNESCO, and OEI, as well as brands like BMW, KFC, Discover, and Totto, among others.
Master in Audiovisual Screenwriting. He has produced documentary feature films and directed television programs. Digital storyteller across multiple formats, he also teaches in postgraduate programs in Ecuador and Latin America.
