Masha’s first short film as a writer-director, comedy-drama “All Souls’ Day” (2020) was co-funded by the Oxford University Filmmaking Foundation and Wolfson College, Oxford. Masha’s second short film, “Saint Vassily” (2024) is produced with Reformation Films, which Masha co-founded, in association with Static Flow Productions, and developed with Script Compass. Both films tackle Masha's interest in the conflict between ethics and morals, particularly in the face of the State.
As a producer, Masha is interested in female-led, genre-bending stories. With Reformation Films, she produced “Olive” (2024), a romantic drama, spotlighting older female desire and sexuality. Starring the icon of British TV of the 1960s Virginia Stride, "Olive" is a winner of Genera grant. Masha also produced “Malkin” (2023), a comedy-horror, tackling the societal expectation of women to marry, starring writer-comedian Rachel Harper. Both films are currently on a festival run.
Prior to embarking on a career as a filmmaker, Masha was a programme coordinator at Kino Klassika Foundation and Content Editor at an award-winning digital agency Little Dot Studios, working with high profile brands including MGM, StudioCanal, Discovery, and BAFTA.
Masha volunteers as a Creative Producer at charity Helping to Leave, which assists Ukrainian civilians as they evacuate to safety in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Masha holds an undergraduate degree in Art History from UCL and a Masters in Film Aesthetics from the University of Oxford.
