Mary Robbins ~ Bio
I've been writing movie scripts since I can remember, but I began my official "second act" after attending a year of Roadmap Writers. Then In 2019, I was the recipient of the Jan Marino Scholarship from SeriesFest. In May 2021, I graduated from Stephens College, Jim Henson Studios, LA, with an MFA in Fine Arts for Screenwriting for TV and Film. I earned a 4.00 and was inducted into the Pinnacle National Honor Society.
Here's the thing, I grew up as essentially Marilynn Munster in the Munster Household. I was a complete fish out of the water. My parents are clearly on the spectrum, and my siblings are spectrummee themselves, and everyone around me was doing these quirky things that I didn't even realize were nuts until I grew up and became a therapist. So, what do I write about? I write about mental health issues; that's no surprise. More importantly, I write dark comedies and dramas that address social issues because I use humor to talk about taboo and dramas to educate about the human condition.
In July, I co-wrote and produced a no-budget web series, Farm Girl, with a crew of twenty. My responsibilities included casting—wardrobe, carting, lodging, stripboarding, location scouting, and securing. The five-episode season is currently being edited and will launch in October.
