Marshal Dodge
Retired Marshal Del Dodge is recruited by Pinkerton Agent Tom Battle to infiltrate organized crime in 1919. The Italian Mafia Dons are gaining a foothold in “new” towns such as Kansas City, combining efforts with Old West gang bosses such as Jack Baxter who are now moving into more sophisticated crime. Dodge joins Battle and a mafia informant to thwart a bribery scheme to acquire the High Plains Aquifer, the largest contiguous underground fresh water reservoir in North America. Through extensive flashback to the Wild West days, we learn that Baxter killed Dodge’s young wife and his Texas Ranger father. Baxter’s attempt to double-cross the Mafia by stealing the gold meant to pay for land bribes is stopped when Dodge is aided by Comanche warriors and a biplane pilot to massacre the guards transporting the payoff gold. Dodge personally kills Baxter, and returns to his Texas ranch with his new love Mary Duncan, the other undercover Pinkerton Agent.
