BIOGRAPHY OF DIRECTOR
GABRIEL MARTINS
Filmmaker, screenwriter, editor, and director of photography, he founded the production company Filmes de Plástico in 2009 together with André Novais Oliveira, Maurilio Martins and Thiago Macêdo Correia. His first feature film as director, In the Heart of the World, co-directed by Maurilio Martins, premiered at the Tiger Competition at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2019 and was screened at several festivals, and was released commercially in several countries with critical acclaim. His short films include Nothing screened at the Cannes Directors' Fortnight in 2017, and Dona Sonia borrowed a gun from her neighbor Alcides screened at the Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival in 2011. Gabriel also participated in the Rotterdam special program Soul in the Eye, in which he gave a masterclass. The filmmaker has written several screenplays brought to the screen, including "German" (2014). Mars One is his first feature film that he directs alone.
