Director Statement

I remember my grandmother sitting next to a window one early morning, reading the bible. She was one of the kindest, warmest women I knew. The sunlight was illuminating her face in a solemn moment, almost holy-like. This scene became the hallmark moment of her memory. My grandmother first learned of Christianity during the Korean war. In danger of amputation, her life and leg were saved and healed by a U.S. troop who also taught her the gospel. At that moment, she became a Christian.

From then on, she read the bible every morning for 60 years. She didn't travel the world spreading evangelist propaganda, nor did she not elevate herself to a celestial being to express her life story to others. She remained an ordinary housewife and a loving mother for her entire life.

That is until she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Our family watched as she slowly faded away, returning to a childlike state, then eventually passing away. It didn't matter that she was insignificant to many because she had influenced me greatly. She taught me the quality of humbleness, the importance of loving others, and the value of meekness. All of which has made me determined to uphold those values. And for that reason, I dedicate this film to my late grandmother.
