Markus Haala is a Brooklyn-based interdisciplinary artist and educator whose work explores the shifting relationship between nature and culture in an age of ecological uncertainty. Influenced by philosophy, art history, and eco-political theory, his practice spans multimedia installation, film, and digital fabrication. Through these mediums, Haala interrogates inherited perceptions of nature and examines the aesthetics of environmental transformation and disruption. He holds a BFA from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam and an MFA from the New Hampshire Institute of Art. His work has been exhibited internationally.
