Mark Ryan Walberg grew up in the high deserts of Acton, California. He studied film at UC Berkeley where he wrote and directed numerous shorts, before landing a development job in Hollywood. He worked his way up to coordinator level in both television and film, but his passion always remained in writing and directing.
He made the jump into TV writing, assisting on Alan Ball’s Here & Now for HBO, before being staffed as a writer on Julie Plec’s Legacies. There, Mark had the opportunity to write multiple episodes and produced them on set.
Mark has written features and pilots in both the hour and half-hour formats, all in a singular voice that is rich in tone, place, and character. His drama pilot The Queens of The Apocalypse placed in the semifinals at Austin Film Festival and was one of Julie Plec’s WGA Staffing Boosts. While not in the writers’ room, Mark is working continuing to develop new TV and feature film ideas.
