'The Eagle Has Landed' is a 50th anniversary tribute song and video for Neil Armstrong and the Apollo 11 mission. Mark Easley and Ellis Paul co-wrote the song, and recorded it together in Woodstock NY. Mark created the music video about Neil and Apollo 11 using stock NASA archive photos and personal photos, and using the song as the sound track.
Lyrics:
It starts with math, equations on a blackboard.
White stars against a black sky,
I'm looking up from a park bench at Purdue
Staring at the moon, I'm staring at the moon.
It was Kennedy's dream to send a man up and bring him back again.
I joined the NASA team, astronauts and engineers working on the dream,
All working towards the moon, we're still a long way from the moon.
Higher, I wonder how high a dream can go?
We've been dreaming since the dawn of time
That the moon could be yours and mine.
Higher, look how the rocket fires
When the whole world shares the same dream,
When you and I are sharing the same dream.
July of '69, the Eagle has landed.
Turn your TVs on! Kennedy would be laughing.
That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.
I'm so far from home and I'm feeling almost weightless.
Now the whole world is watching, and I can't believe this!
I'm staring at the earth
(Houston, Tranquility Base here, the Eagle has landed!)
I'm staring at the earth!
Higher, I wonder how high a dream can go?
We've been dreaming since the dawn of time
That the moon could be yours and mine.
Higher, look how the rocket fires
When the whole world shares the same dream,
When you and I are sharing the same dream.
Staring at the earth, I'm staring at the earth...
