Marizabel

Hit by the Alzheimer's disease at the age of seventy, Marizabel Saw her self surounded by her husbands axial life, and by him substituted, in her daily deals at their house. During almost one decade Alexandre, an Alentejo man from Castelo de Vide, took care of his wife in their home, loosing himself step by step from a civic and social life. Mostly active since then. The melancholy and silence remained in their familiar space, vanquished progressively by the main and invisible caracter of this intimate documentary. Following slowly the degenerative process of his grandmother, the director has built an cinematographic object with great sensibility, fixing the gestures and essencial moments of a story that lasts till Marizabel is relocated to an Institution of continued health care in 2018. Due to the years of absolute dedication to his wife Alexandre joineed her a few time later.

Director Biography - Gabriel Marmelo

Gabriel Borges Marmelo was born on 1992 in Castelo de Vide, Portalegre where he lived till he completed 18 years old. After the conclusion of his secondary school, named São Lourenço, in Portalegre he joined in Visual Arts - Multimedia bachelor at Évora University. He lived and studied in this city for four years.
On 2014 he moved to Lisbon to study Directing, Television and Video at RESTART – Institute of creative arts and new technologies. Since then he has been developed work as a director, camera operator, photo editor, audiovisual and multimedia technition.
In 2015 it is his first exhibition “Sukata Dixléxica” at his home town, Castelo de Vide.
From 2015 to 2018 he colaborated has a permanent worker in Arroios TV, a local tv channel. Besides this worker he has been involved since then in works, such as cinema, promocional video, made audios for theatre plays and worked too as a photografer.
Nowadays he attends the Cinema and Television Master from Nova University of Lisbon – Social and Human Sciences Faculty.
He is still very interested in audiovisual captation and edition always thinking in creating objects wiht the film form in order to produce contents for the different platforms and technical supports.
