From early on Peter Auer-Grumbach (born in Graz 1995) has been interested in arts, especially in film and music. After several projects and professional experiences in Austria and Germany, he has started to study Performing and audiovisual arts at the Université de Lorraine in 2014. First experiences as an actor (“Délectation”, 2016) led him to direct his first short film “80 m²” which he has presented at the Short Film Corner of the Festival de Cannes 2018. During this period, he did an exchange year at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo, where he studied Multimedia Arts. He has consequently finished his Master in Film esthetics at the Université Toulouse - Jean Jaurès in 2019. The same year, he moved to Vienna where he is continuously working on photography and film projects.
Created during the film residency “Kino Guarimba” in Amantea, Southern-Italy, “Marino” portrays a young and untypical italian boy who is facing the challenges of growing up. Social acceptance and the feeling of being part of a group are very important for children. Hierarchy also plays a major role, as the oldest is very often the leader of the group. However, if there is an emergency, one will understand very quickly who has real qualities.
Marino wants to join the adventures of his older brother. So the trip he is planning represents a courage test: At first, the three have to steal the boat of old Zu Peppino and then, they might discover something forbidden - the legendary nudist beach.
Marino undertakes a trip through the Ulysseus waters and is looking for an exciting world in order to escape the protection of his mother.
