Maricarmen
This is the second clip of my new Potacci music project (the song also has the Spanish and Italian versions). Maricarmen is the story of a “frustrated” housewife, who one day hears on the radio the news that her favorite singer Potacci is presumably murdered in unclear circumstances.
Maricarmen wakes up and begins to have a nervous breakdown.
She automatically consoles herself through her greatest weakness: sweet cookies. Once entered this cycle, a series of hallucinations arise in which her idol appears in the form of a “happy spirit”. After her husband discovering her obsession, they decide to organise a symbolic funeral, to let Potacci go.
This party helps the couple getting close again, and Maricarmen forgets Potacci. The next day, the husband while cleaning the house, throws away the picture from the altar, showing the viewer a sentence the singer left to Maricarmen, She wasn't just a fan, in fact they had a secret love affair.

Elettra Arnell was born in 1992 in Italy, from an Italian mother and a Swedish father.
She studied for 5 years at the Art high school Giovanni Sello in Italy until 2011, when she got the diploma in Photography and Film. During the same year she followed Art and Film courses in Stockholm.
In 2015-2016 she studied at the European Film College in Denmark, receiving a Diploma in Video Editing, Sound Design, Animation and Lightning for Film.
In 2016-2019, she studied and specialised in Video Editing at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. During these three years she has collaborated with BBC Scotland as a film maker of short documentaries, and has worked as a freelance illustrator.
During 2019-2020 she has lived in Madrid, Spain, to study and specialise in Graphic Design. During her stay she also worked on video art for Instagram, and music videos, such as "Maricarmen", a long collaboration with the Italian musician Potacci.
I started working on the music video “Maricarmen” in January
collaborating on the script with the artist Potacci and the cinematographer James. It took about a month to write the story, find the actors, find the location and buy all the props. The shooting took two days.
This video mainly covers three topics: diversity, depression, suffering and the "addictions" it produces. This last aspect is due to the fact that society considers so-called "minorities" with labels instead of simply considering them people.
At the same time, being the mood of the song playful and elegant, we wanted to create a music video where people could have fun and enjoying being new characters. This was also a therapeutic proyect for Potacci because it overcame his barriers built by his family education and pseudo-religious backgroud.
