Following retirement from the world of training and development, Maria followed her dream and embarked upon a full-time degree course in film and media and recently graduated top of her year, also winning an award for best student radio feature. The dissertation documentary she directed 'Hear me Now' won two Royal Television Society awards, best student factual in Scotland and best in the UK. She went on to complete a Masters Degree in Screenwriting at the Screen Academy Edinburgh.
Before studying film, Maria experimented with filmmaking and produced a film 'The Story So Far', a feature Documentary which celebrates 50 years of The Findhorn Foundation, an ecological and spiritual community in the North East of Scotland.
Maria is living proof that it's never too late to fulfill your dreams.
