Maybe there is a kingdom above the weather.
Margot Roa has developed her practice across multiple disciplines, including photography, videography, filmmaking, and poetry.
A graduate of the Film and Digital Media program at UC Santa Cruz, her work includes commissioned videography for the Nevada County Arts Council, collaborations with local businesses such as Lavinia Apothecary, and the Porch Interviews series sponsored by YubaNet.
She has directed six short films and earned seven awards, notably winning the Kingsley Merit Award for The Handmade Man and second place for Music and the Muse at the “Look at Us, Yuba Sutter” Film Festival.
In September 2024, she completed Without a Doubt, a 15-page autobiographical excerpt reflecting on her experiences growing up within the esoteric school The Fellowship of Friends.
Currently collaborating with The Living Room Arts Collective, Roa will present her new film Portraits—alongside a collection of poetry and photography—this coming June.
