A cursory history:
I have been a professional editor for many years. I have a diverse edting background encompassing documentry, music and finally editing & producing motion picture trailers / broadcast tevevision promos.
This project is my first attempt at making a film. It was actualized with no crew and zero money. Absolutely none. It was conceived over a lunch I had with the film's lead, Maria Rinaldi, an actress I became friends with while taking an acting class many years ago. We agreed to throw caution and judgment to the wind and do something. We made a pact to go the distance, good or bad.
A few years back, the first Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera went on summer sale for $500.00. I bought it along with a tripod, some lenses, and a Zoom HR6 audio recorder. I attempted to learn to fly both the best I could. I directed, shot, edited, ran location and post sound. I suppose if there really is such a thing as "gorilla film making," this project is it.
I wrote the script based on available actors and available locations. It needed to be modified as we went along to fit our limitations and usable environments. I did my best to be honest. No tricks. Just a humble attempt at dramatic narrative.
As those who have attempted making a film without money or any crew can attest, the process requires an incredible amount of work and dedication to sustain and complete the task. In the end we had a blast! We took a leap into the unknown and learned many things. I hope you like some of what we did.
