Inspiration and connection to Spirit and Place weave through all my films. Bringing all people together in a sacred bond of love , respect and community is my strongest guiding principle.
Mill Valley filmmaker, Marcelina Martin, began making films at age 57. She holds a degree in photography and until that point was a fine art photographer. Since Ms. Martin's travels in India in 2007, she has been producing both promotional and documentary films. Ms. Martin also worked as a cinematographer in short and feature films in Santa Fe.
Some of her promotional films include The Living Dharma, Raw Detox, Archetypal Patterning, Preserving Gohn Dagow, Pure Water for India and What Can You Do to Change the World.
Her first feature length film, Mining The Unconscious, documents sixteen artists who integrate spirituality and art. Mining The Unconscious flows from artists who seek to heal their own psyches to those who help heal other's psyches. Finally we emerge into the world of the shaman and the roots of art: the artist who creates to heal or make whole the community. In addition to deeply moving art, the sound track transports the viewer as we move through a world dedicated to joy. Mining The Unconscious is a celebration of the beauty of life upon this earth.
Her medium length films include Odissi Indian
Classical Dance, Healing Through Raw Food, and Row of Tombs: Jung and Reincarnation. My Mother's Daughter has been in production. It is the journey of a group of African-American women discovering and reconciling their African roots. The film is blessed to have Desmond Tutu's daughter Naomi Tutu in our cast. Ms Martin is currently producing a feature length documentary on Elsa Gidlow, a lesbian poet, who founded a bohemian community in Marin County, CA during the 1950's. This documentary includes the life of Irish Revolutionary, Ella Young who died in Oceano, CA. Chains of Fires is about personal sovereignty and remaining true to one’s principles and vision.
All deeply needed in today’s social atmosphere. This is no less than the integration of one’s philosophy, ethics, spirituality, identity, and purpose.
