Man of The House
Whilst ELLE gazes catatonically into the monotonous, ruinous loop of an emergency broadcast, CASEY attempts levity and offers to make a grocery store run, though instead only further disquiets Elle’s mind.
Later, Elle is disturbed by increasingly loud and awful sounds from outside; one particular scream is especially harrowing. Willing herself to rise she is shocked to find Casey in a state of terrible distress, broken after enduring some form of terrible violation. Still, at least they have food…
A week later, and the cupboards are bare. Struggling to appease and an increasingly violent and unpredictable Casey, Elle realises that their joint situation is untenable, and bestows upon them the ultimate mercy. However, after the lethal dosages are administered, Elle’s survival instinct kicks in, and she regurgitates her own overdose, to the savage chagrin of Casey, who attempts to subjugate her until the poison and weakness allow Elle to fight him off, leaving her alone to the horrors of the new world.
