Manny TV Pilot
Manny is a complex and intriguing story about a boxer who is trying to find redemption and his identity. He was trained to fight at a young age and did exceptionally well due to the discipline of his father. Before he became a boxer, he was close to his mother, a kind and gentle woman who raised him while his father, a naval officer, and boxer was away serving overseas. Manny’s father returned and saw the potential in Manny and trained him how to fight. Manny then dedicated his whole life to become a great boxer, doing whatever it takes. This dedication came with a price.
Manny keeps everyone at arm’s length, especially his family and friends. He became a stranger to everyone. When he reached his mid-teens, his boxing career took off, winning one fight after another, but then something tragic happened, his mother dies.

Lauritz, along with long-time friends David C. Connolly and Kevin Bui, is creating building blocks to establish the Houston area as an independent film destination. Houston offers filmmakers a rich backdrop to storytelling that no other city can.
Along with his collaborators, David Lauritz cultivated a passion for creative work early in life. Film and television fascinated him and inspired a need to work in the field while earning a degree from the Houston Community College in the art of filmmaking.
What attracted us to this story is that it embraces the fact that we are all unique individuals. The world today is slow to accept, we are chained to social norms. If we find ourselves not fitting into these rules, we are labeled as being different. With “Manny” we want to celebrate being different and move past social norms.
This story is a drama and in no way campy or farcical. It is not our intention to make light of an individual’s life choices. It is an in-depth study of the duality of human nature, uncertainty and stigma, growth and redemption.
