Mehmet Aksu is an aspiring director and writer, born on 21 March 2000. He routinely makes his own shorts to improve his craft and knowledge as a director and writer in Istanbul. He started his cinema journey by enrolling in Bahçeşehir University Cinema TV department. He then went on to work as an intern at Netflix, the 3rd AD of the Turkish drama "Toprak ile Fidan", and backstage of the feature film "In Algorithm We Trust." Currently, he works freelance in the AD department for shorter-term projects until his graduation this year. With his short films, he aims to reach one step closer his dream of being an award winning director.
Like many men, for years I was pushed into certain molds, labels, and realities by my family, society, and my loved ones due to my gender. However, a person is defined by very personal concepts like character, personality, heart, and soul. Not being a man or woman...
The desire to make an experimental film began with the idea of shooting a single location transforming into different forms at different times using one frame. When this idea was fueled by the intensity of the thoughts I mentioned, "Manly Man" was born.
