Director Statement

With this film, I'm attempting to capture the reality of the marginalized handloom community and my people, which, if neglected, may vanish from society in the years to come. During the course of this film, I realized these weavers do not have a market to sell their product nor do they have knowledge of the market, they have to be dependent on dealers or middlemen who most of the time take a large part of their income as a part of the commission.

Over time, after being with them, I came to a conclusion - with their efforts and my knowledge and with this film, We can create an online platform for them on which they can sell their products and make this Art and this product available to much wider audiences. This kind of initiative maybe in coming future can attract more younger generations towards this profession and make this art sustainable.

My main goal in picking this topic is to preserve a historical record and educate people from all walks of life about this Art, and to create a certain platform for them, where they can sell their product directly to end buyers.
