Mandvi ka Malam

'Mandvi ka Malam' is a story about Mandvi, a small coastal town in Gujarat famous for its 400-years-old wooden shipbuilding industry. The story is told through the lens of a 93-years-old Captain, Shivji Buddha Fofandi, who has spent around 85 years on ships. He became a Captain at the age of 11 years and has led many voyages across the Arabian Sea. Using nostalgia, the film takes the audiences through the captain's glorious days, touches upon his emotions and beliefs and ends with a statement about Mandvi’s current conditions. It makes a subtle political comment about the privatization of public services.
