Sicily 1958. The town of Cofone, in the Sicilian hinterland, has its streets lined with electoral posters in view of the election of the First Citizen to the City Council. A few days before the elections, the candidate for mayor of the PCI dies. The religious function is transformed into a theater of the absurd. But the disbelief of the crowd finds its culmination in the last wishes of the deceased…

1958. Il paese di Cofone, nell’entroterra siciliano, ha le strade tappezzate di manifesti elettorali in vista delle elezioni del Primo Cittadino al Consiglio Comunale. Pochi giorni prima delle elezioni, muore il candidato a sindaco esponente del P.C.I. Tra lo smarrimento dei compagni e le congetture dei paesani, la funzione religiosa si trasforma in un teatro dell’assurdo. Ma l’incredulità della folla trova il suo culmine nelle ultime volontà del defunto…
